Over the last few weekends there have been some signs of nesting around our house. My husband has been busily working on some house projects that need to be finished, we’re making plans to get our new roof, and I’ve been on pinterest getting lots of ideas for a cute baby room.
I have even taken time to put those plans into action with the sewing machine I borrowed from my Grandma. It’s probably been close to 15 years or more since I’ve used one, but it’s like riding a bike.
First up was my desire to create a quilt for the baby since I hadn’t seen any bedding that fit both the color scheme and our modern style. (No teddy bear patterns or jungle themes for us!) And after two weekends of working on the quilt it is completed…
I combined several fabric patterns in the gray, yellow and white theme to create something special for baby Reis. On the reverse side we went chose a super soft fabric with little ‘bumps’, which we think the baby will enjoy during tummy time. (If not we’ll each be fighting over the soft blanket.)
Up next I will be working on some throw pillows for the day bed in the baby’s room, and we have already purchased the fabric for the valances and closet curtains.
Baby Reis also received a couple gifts this week. One from my sister, which was receiving blankets and onsies wrapped to look like cupcakes.
And from our friends Baby Reis got a little glow-worm…every baby needs a little glow worm!
When is the last time you used a sewing machine? Any fun domestic projects or home improvements happening around at your house?

I LOVE that quilt you actioned. It is gorgeous and delightfully soft-looking. I can’t wait to see the rest of the baby room vision realized!
p.s. The last time I used a sewing machine was at a friend’s house in the 4th grade. It was something involving polar fleece.
I think the last time I used a sewing machine was in 7th grade home economics. I made a wrap skirt that was very cute back then. Is there anything you can’t do, btw? You are so talented Jen. I love your blog : )
